Sometimes dreams hold deep spiritual connections between you and other people, either living or passed. Like your own live-in personal counsellor, your dreams offer you messages you can use every day.

Everybody dreams. But often we’re not in the habit of remembering them. You can increase your dream recall.

Here’s a few tips.

 

 

How To Increase your Dream Recall

 

¨ Decide, and state to yourself that you want to remember your dreams.

¨ Put a pen and some paper by the bed ready to write the dream down.

¨ Drink a glass of water before going to bed. Waking during the night to go to the toilet is a slow and gentle way to wake, so you are more likely to remember what you were just dreaming.

¨ If you remember a dream in the middle of the night, write down a few words about the dream (eg. Cat, shop, shoes, old house, .. ). In the morning, use this as a prompt to allow the dream to come back to you. Then write it all down.

¨ Promise yourself 10 minutes in the morning to lie in bed before you get up. Use this time to be gentle and ponder on your night, not to think about the day ahead. This takes practise, and possibly a change to your routine.

¨ Talk about your dreams to your partner while you are still in bed. If you live alone, write down your dreams when you wake up, before getting into your day.

 

All of these things give a message to your inner self that you want to remember your dreams. The more you carry out this practise, the more you will be able to remember your dreams. Your spirit or inner self will appreciate that you want to listen to the messages.

 

Barriers to remembering dreams

¨ Alcohol, drugs or medication.

¨ Physical or emotional exhaustion

¨ Not wanting to remember dreams (fear of what the message may be)

¨ Allowing your mind to move too quickly into “busyness” when you wake up.
